About Chris Lanning
Lifelong Cobb County Resident
- Chris was born and raised in Cobb County.
- He is the product of a Cobb County education having attended Acworth Elementary School, Awtrey Middle School and North Cobb High School. He graduated and then attended UGA for his undergraduate studies and went on to attend Seton Hall Law School.
- He missed home, his family and sweet tea and so he moved back to start his legal career.
- He and his wife Erin were thrilled to purchase a home in Cobb County in the summer of 2008 and have resided there since then.
- Cobb County has always been "home" and where Chris wanted to live and work.
Lifelong Cobb County Prosecutor
- Chris started his legal career at the Cobb County Solicitor General's Office and hopes to continue to serve there for many years to come.
- After graduation from Seton Hall Law School Chris chose to return home and was lucky enough to land a dream prosecution job as a prosecutor in his hometown of Cobb County.
- He started out in the traffic division and moved to the criminal division.
- Chris then worked at the Cobb County District Attorney's Office prosecuting felony crimes.
- He then returned back to the Solicitor's Office in a leadership role as a Deputy Chief Assistant.
- He was promoted to Chief Assistant Solicitor General in 2018 where he continues to serve today.
- He is excited to run as a Democrat for Cobb County Solicitor General!
Engaged in the Cobb County Community
- Chris and Erin are the proud parents of two young children. Their eldest starts kindergarten in August of 2021 in the Cobb County school system.
- They are involved in a number of community organizations, Democrat events and can often be found at local playgrounds and parks with the kids!

The Solicitor General’s Office is responsible for the prosecution of all State misdemeanor crimes, traffic offenses and all county ordinance cases in the State Court of Cobb County
The Solicitor General’s Office prosecutes approximately 70,000 cases per year in Cobb County
